Here at First United Methodist Church, we like to involve as many people as possible lead by God during our weekly service. If you feel the calling to serve in one of the areas during our worship service or want to learn more about one, please reach out to the Pastor.
The following Serving Steward opportunities are available to anyone lead to serve.
Acolyte/Crucifer: You are carrying the cross and light of Christ into and out of worship reminding us that Christ should always be before us in worship and as we go out to serve Him in the world. If you are a third-grader to an adult, you are invited to serve as an acolyte and/or crucifer during our Worship services.
Lay Readers: The reading and hearing of God’s Word is an important part of Worship. We invite youth and adults to share in this important part of worship.
Nursery Volunteers: It is so very important that parents have a safe place for their young children to be while they are in worship. We practice the Safe Sanctuary model which requires two adults or one adult and one youth at all times in the Nursery.
Greeters: Hospitality is an important part of who we are at FUMC. Guiding visitors and regular attendees into worship and throughout the building allow for a feeling of welcome and security.
Ushers: Ushering is another role in hospitality. The Ushers lead worship attendees into and during worship.
Altar Guild: The flowers placed in worship are an outward sign of God’s gifts to us. Many members of the congregation share flowers weekly in memory and/or honor of special people or events in their lives. The care and presentation of our Chancel area is also an important part of worship. The Altar Guild coordinator is responsible for this ministry and its coordination.
Communion Stewards/Servers: Sharing the sacrament of Holy Communion is a reminder of God’s gift of His Son to us. The Stewards and Servers assist the Pastor in the preparation and act of the sacrament.
Sound/Video Ministry: The mission of this team is to provide the sound and video for our weekly worship services as well as the sound for funeral services, weddings, or other special events. They provide copies of CD’s to the CD Ministry to deliver to our homebound members.
CD Ministry: Volunteers take recordings of the weekly church service, along with the church bulletin for that service, to homebound church members who have requested it.
